LOCAL students who have been picked out of thousands from across the country to visit the White House may not be able to go because there is no funding.

Elle Grummett, Tom Bexen and Hannah Ainsworth from Penistone Grammar School beat off competition from private schools as well as state schools to take part in the World Leadership Forum in Washington DC.

The three were nominated for their hard work and academic abilities by teacher Andy Gibbins who said it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

They will take part in the week long course during which students from all over the world meet top government leaders and visit the Supreme High Court.

Because it is a non-profit organisation the children and the school need to stump up the £6,000 it will cost themselves.
