A THURNSCOE rider is a step closer to achieving her ambition after competing in the national The Pony Club championships.
Beatrice Stocks, 17, hopes to ride in the Grand National one day and is currently riding out at Richard Guest’s yard near Retford three or four times a week. Guest trained the 2001 National winner Red Marauder.
She fits her riding in with a course at Doncaster Aviation College where she is training to work as ground dispatch staff at the airport.
“I want to work part-time so that I can still work with horses and combine eventing with amateur point-to-point. I hope to go on to qualify for the Grand National one day.”
Beatrice, a member of Badsworth Pony Club, qualified for the national championships at the Northern Area Championships at Northallerton on her 10-year-old pony Shaft Superstar. She competed in the Intermediate Section against riders from Yorkshire and Durham.
