A DISABLED driver is so sick of his car being vandalised he is getting CCTV installed on his driveway.
Andy Smith, 41, of Hawshaw Lane, Hoyland has only had his mobility car for six months but it has already been targeted several times.
Andy, who cannot work because of his disability, said he had decided to take action as he was so fed up with the weekly damage.
He said: “I am at my wits end and it is making me ill. It’s going to cost me a small fortune to get the damage repaired. I can’t afford it.
‘The car is covered in deep scratches so it’s obviously being done maliciously.
“I don’t know why they’re targeting me. It’s even parked up on the driveway at the side of my house so I know it’s deliberate.”
Andy said he has reported it to the police every time but they are powerless to do anything unless somone is caught in the act.
He said: “Nobody sees them doing anything so the police can’t take action. I’m getting the cameras fitted and hope that they will put them off doing it again. If it doesn’t then I hope it catches them in the act.”
Andy said there had been trouble in the past with youths setting fire to wheelie bins and garden sheds but that the problem had quietened down.
He hopes whoever is responsible will realise the misery they have caused him and stop. A police spokesman confirmed they were investigating the matter.
