A MAN who has been attacked by youths on a lonely lane between Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe is warning people to take care.

The victim, Stephen Hagland, 38, of Main Street, Goldthorpe is avoiding Pit Lane after being assaulted there for the second time this year.

He was on his way to his night shift job on Lidget Lane Industrial Estate, Thurnscoe when he made a comment to youths who were urinating on the unlit path. They took offence and knocked him to the ground, kicking and thumping him.

“There was a gang on the little bridge, six lads between 16 and 18- years -old and two lasses who were about 15,” he said.

“Two of the lads were urinating on the lane and I shouted to them that they were dirty b******s. Then they set on me.”

One of them kicked him on his left side and the other thumped him on his face and kicked him on the legs.

“I suffer from thrombosis so tried to deflect the attack on to my left side. I think they had probably been drinking, but I won’t be walking down Pit Lane again for quite a while.”

He was left with a cut face and bruised legs and received treatment at Barnsley hospital.
