A COUNCIL worker was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after being hit by a set of ladders on the roof of a passing vehicle.
The man, 54, works in the council's neighbourhoods team, and was on a pavement on Kingwell Road, Worsbrough, when he was struck. His head was also badly cut and neck and arm were injured.
Police say the incident happened at about 10am on Wednesday and involved a white Toyota Hilux pickup. The 60-year-old driver was heading towards Worsbrough Common and stopped at the scene and is helping police.

Yesterday the injured man was still in Barnsley hospital but was said to be comfortable.
