BARNSLEY College principal Paula Whittle is leaving to take up a new post in London.
She came to Barnsley four years ago and has overseen improvements in the college and helped secure £60m to redevelop the main sites.
Construction work is now underway and will culminate with the Old Mill Lane site being rebuilt.
Mrs Whittle will leave Barnsley in September and become principal of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London college, one of the largest in the UK. She said she was sad to be leaving Barnsley and would miss the community.
