LIVE music, street theatre, and a parade of more than 2,000 people will come together for Barnsley’s summer carnival.
The biggest single-day event in the town centre takes place tomorrow and will include competitions, dancing and children’s entertainment.
Radio Dearne DJs will host the main stage and brass bands will fill the town hall. The parade will be led by the Mayor, Coun Margaret Morgan. It will include more than 40 different groups.
Coun Bill Newman said: “The summer carnival is a celebration of the community spirit within the borough. It’s a day that should not be missed.”
Entertainment will be provided by an array of acts including Barnsley Youth Theatre, Barnsley Mixed Voice Choir and Barnsley Irish dancers. Two schools - Wellgate Primary and Grove Street Primary - will put on special performances. In the town hall music will be provided by the Cooperative Concert Band and the Killamarsh Silver Band.
