A BARUGH Green woman can not weight to get started on her sponsored slim as she wants to raise enough money to rebuild a village.
Rose Roberts, 58, went on a two week trip to Honduras in May to give food, clothes and medication out to villagers. She was part of a team of eight from Wath Pentecostal Church and saw first hand the conditions the locals had to endure.
“They live in a shanty town in wood huts which are appalling. When I saw the state of the houses I had it on my heart.
“It costs about £250 to build a new hut, there are 100, so I want to rehouse the whole village.”
She came up with the idea of a sponsored slim because she wants to lose weight she gained while on medication following two years of treatment for breast cancer.
She has named her efforts the Wendy House Appeal after one of the young girls she met in the village. “I asked, Lord why did you call her Wendy? and then it came to me - Wendy House.”
