BREAST cancer survivor Nicola Haycock has organised a sponsored walk in bras to raise money for the Barnsley Cancer After Care.

The 37-year-old, of Sheffield Road, Birdwell, was diagnosed with the disease 18 months ago but after treatment at the hospital’s cancer care unit she is now in remission.

Tomorrow she and nearly 30 workmates, friends and family members will walk 12 miles from Barnsley police station to Ecclesfield police station. She hopes to open an after care room in the hospital with the proceeds.

Nicola said: “We wanted to do the Moonwalk for Breast Cancer Research UK in London but it was too popular so we decided to organise our own.

“I want to use it to promote breast cancer among younger women because my experience is there is not enough awareness in Barnsley.”

Walkers are not collecting sponsorship but instead have a licence to carry collection boxes.
