A CANNABIS factory containing £1, 000 of equipment was discovered at a house in Cudworth - but there was no cannabis.
It is thought two Korean women, a 28 year-old and 26 year-old, had been renting the property on Birkwood Avenue from a letting agent in Wombwell for about six months.
But police were called on Wednesday after a six-month inspection found the house was being used to grow the Class C drug.
PC Brad Wynne, of Cudworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, said three rooms, including the master bedroom, were used.
He added: "One room was about one ft deep in compost. All the walls were covered in tin foil and the extractor fans and reflector lights were still there."
PC Wynne added: "We believe the women left the property about two weeks ago having not paid the rent for the last month and took the cannabis with them."
He said a neighbour had seen a white van leaving the property at night.
Police are now appealing for information about anyone seen leaving or entering the property and about the women. Contact the Golden Line on 736592.
