A TEENAGER from Elsecar proved she was a cut above the rest when she had her long locks shorn for charity.

Abie Henderson, 13, of Cobcar Street, had never had her hair cut until this week when she had 25 inches taken off at Elegance Hair and Beauty.

Stepdad, Christopher Hough, said: "She has always had really long hair and never wanted anything but the split ends removed.

Hairdresser Ann Marie Fieldsend, said: "She was very nervous, as any 13-year-old would be but she loved the final result, it was very sophisticated."

Abie has raised more than £350 with her special cut and will be presenting a cheque to the baby unit next week.
