A YOUNG archer's Olympic dream has been boosted thanks to a grant from the Dickie Bird Foundation.
David Scurfield, 12, has been able to buy a new bow with the £385 donation and says it will make his shooting better.
Royston High pupil David, of Manor Court House, Royston, has been using Barnsley Archery Club equipment but the new bow gives him improved accuracy.
He said: "It means a lot. With the old equipment I was lucky if I hit the gold centre target. Now I'm able to get at least one gold a round, usually two."
David has already competed against adults and came second but dreams of competing in the Olympics. Dad Chris said: "Without the grant David wouldn't have been able to proceed."
Dickie said: “I look forward to following David's progress. This means so much to me because he is a Barnsley lad."
