THREE Mitsubishi Evo X police cars were seen patrolling the A61 in Staincross this week as part of a traffic operation between Wakefield and Barnsley.
There were nine police vehicles in total stationed along Barnsley Road and Wakefield Road on Monday, including two specialist camera vans and four response cars.
It is understood they were there as part of a traffic operation being carried out by South Yorkshire police designed to catch criminals travelling between the two towns.
The high-performance Evo X pursuit cars are part of the Road Crime Unit and are usually only deployed in packs of three for cases involving drug dealers and car thieves.
