STAFF from a care home brought home the trophy after winning big at a national awards ceremony.
The Caring Awards were held in Leicester last Thursday and celebrate the best the sector has to offer.
Darfield’s Thornhill House came away with the top prize of the evening - the National Care Home of the Year award.
They were nominated for the work they have done within their local community, as well as efforts to raise money for charities.
HR officer for Sun Life Care, Pam Banwait said: “It feels amazing to have won the award.
“It’s been a difficult year for everyone and to be recognised for the hard work Christian and the rest of the team have put in is great.
“The team has worked really hard and I think sometimes care home staff get overlooked - they do so much for their community and for charities and I am really proud to work with them.”
Manager of the home Christian Whiteley-Mason said: “I recently met the Prime Minister who said that if I wore the suit I did, we would win the big prize.
“It looks like he was right.”
