THE Metrodome has become a chaotic and overcrowded youth club for boisterous teenagers because of a free swimming scheme, a mum claims.
She says it is impossible to swim properly in the pool because it is so full of youths taking advantage of the council offer.
And a Metrodome worker is considering quitting because of the situation which has arisen since the launch of 'Mi Cards' for under-18s.
"When you get in the pool you cannot swim anyway because there are that many jumping all over. I'm surprised there has not been an injury it was so chock-a-block. It's like a youth club in the water."
One worker told the Chronicle it was virtually impossible for instructors to give swimming lessons because of the noise.
A spokesman for Barnsley Premier Leisure, which runs the Metrodome for the council, admitted the cards had made things, "rather busy at times". As a result a new barrier system has been introduced to minimise waiting times and extra staff were being used.
