A TEENAGER is facing a difficult Christmas as he adjusts to his life in a wheelchair.

Jason Kirby, 18, of St Andrew's Road, Hoyland, was paralysed in a scooter accident in June and is trying to come to terms with his new life.

"It's not getting much easier," he said.

"I'm not really excited about Christmas this year but I'm sure it will be all right. I'm just going round to mums for Christmas dinner.

"I've done most of my Christmas shopping and have just asked for bits and bobs for me."

Kind Chronicle readers raised £1,500 to put towards a customised wheelchair for the former Kirk Balk pupil.

And five-month old Bruno, the dog, has been eagerly helping him get around Hoyland.

"He's big now and pulls a lot on the lead whenever you take him for a walk. He was enjoying the snow for the first time and just kept licking it and would eat the snowballs I threw for him."
