Smart has gone electric with the Fortwo model which is available on a lease arrangement with deliveries due in November.
The Smart EV is a fully electric version of the popular two-seater car and will have a 30KW output and top speed of 70mph. It offers even better in-town performance than its petrol-powered stablemate, with 0-30mph in 6.5 seconds. With a range of 72 miles, the Smart EV is exempt from vehicle excise duty and congestion charge. More than 40,000 Smart Fortwos have been sold in the UK since its launch in 2000.
