A WOMAN planning to take part in a charity walk broke her foot in two places when she fainted after giving blood.

Jennifer Pearson, of Oriel Way, Monk Bretton, will now do next month’s Barnsley Hospice Midnight Walk on an electric scooter.

The 58-year-old, who has given blood 63 times, said she is frustrated she won’t be able to walk the 11-mile circuit.

She said: “I was so cross, I had just walked about seven miles to the hospice and back to collect my race number that morning.

“In the afternoon I went to give blood at Priory Campus and afterwards felt unwell. I went to the toilet but felt worse, as I stood up to get help I must have fainted."
