FIVE budding pop singers could be on the road to stardom after their girl band made it to the last 36 of The X Factor.

Sweet Rebellion progressed through two auditions of the ITV talent show in Manchester before going on to a two week “boot camp” in London.

The girls, who are making their first attempt at the competition, appeared briefly when the series kicked off last Saturday and will feature in future episodes over the next few weeks.

Sweet Rebellion was originally formed four years ago by Nicola Brear, 23, from Dodworth, and Lianne Hibbert, 21, from Ardsley.

They were later joined by Vicky Matthews, 17, from Sheffield. A fourth member left the band and was replaced by Chloe Wright, 17, and Ayeesha Benson, 16, both from Wombwell.

Nicola said it was an amazing but bewildering experience.

“They just leave you in a big room. You really don’t have a clue what’s going on. “It was a great experience, though. It’s so exciting that you don’t care about how long you’re there.”
