BUDDING Barnsley Olympians rubbed shoulders with the town’s sporting stars at the Holiday Inn, Dodworth.
The dinner organised by the Newham-Barnsley partnership celebrated the achievements of local athletes past and present and allowed young sportsmen and women to gain advice and meet other hopefuls who are heading to London in 2012.
Famous names on the guest list included Olympic sprinter Dorothy Hyman and Olympic judo player Steve Gawthorpe. Adele Lassu, a 21-year-old high jumper, and Megan Sylvestre, 16, who dives with World diving champion Tom Daley, were some of the athletes who are looking for Olympic gold in the near future.
