Singing sensations at Priory School launched a single and video on Monday to mark their move into a new school.
The group performed, Going On Together, and showed the music video at a launch party at Priory Campus, Lundwood.Priory school will merge with Willowgarth when Shafton ALC opens in July.
Head of music John Campbell said: “Because the school is closing we thought about writing a song to do with that. They’re moving out of their comfort zone at a school they’ve been happy at for a number of years.
“We got a group of pupils together and the starting point was the motto of ‘going together’.”
Ashleigh Smith, 16, was involved in the songwriting. She said: “We started this process about a year ago and it’s been like a rollercoaster. We’ve really enjoyed it. All of us have come together and we feel like one family. It’s really great.”
Singer Leanne Exelby, 12, said: “This school is almost 100 years old and that’s pretty amazing. We wrote this song to commemorate our time in the school and so we can remember it forever.”
Pupils are selling copies of the CD and video to fund extra activities and projects in the new school.
