Singing teenager Olivia Thawley is hoping to build up an internet following after uploading videos to YouTube.

 

Olivia, 13, who has made a CD called 'Three Generations' with her mum and granddad, said: "I've done singing ever since I was little. I like to make up my own songs and stuff too."

 

The Kirk Balk pupil has begun uploading videos to YouTube in the hope an online following will build up in the same way it did for artists like Jessie J and Lily Allen.

 

She will perform at the Kirk Balk gala in the summer and has taken part in competitions like Wath's Got Talent and Kirk Balk's InterArts.

She will begin piano lessons after the Easter holidays and eventually hopes to write her own songs.

 

Parents Mandy, 43, and Simon Thawley, 47, are very supportive of both girls.

Mandy, of Upper Hoyland Road, said: "Olivia is such a little thing but she can really belt it."

her sister Nicola, 18, is a theatre student at York St John university and is a member of the musical production society.

 

She said: "Mum and granddad have been a big inspiration. I love all kinds of music - both modern stuff and older stuff."
