A disturbed teenager devastated by the death of his father battered his mother to death with a baseball bat.
James Gethen, 16, denied murder but admitted manslaughter of his mother Ann on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Sheffield Crown Court was told it was a 'sustained and savage' attack on his mother Ann, 29, of Goldthorpe, who had got engaged the day before in August 2010.
He used the bat to strike a number of blows killing her almost instantly. He was 15 at the time.
The court was told Gethen was a troubled teen with an 'extremely complex and significant history of psychological disorders'.
