CAWTHORNE host Barnsley Woolley Miners in a derby tomorrow after both winning one and losing one of their first two games this season.
They are the two highest-placed clubs in the borough of Barnsley.
Cawthorne have won the last four league meetings since 2021.
Barnsley captain Beuta Beukes said: “It’s a big game. We will be up for the derby.
“We haven’t overcome Cawthorne for a couple of years but hopefully this is the year we can have bragging rights.
“They’ve had a similar start to us so it should be a good game.”
Cawthorne captain Archie Greaves said: “Games against Barnsley are always entertaining due to them being our local derbies.
“Both teams will be fired up to win and I’m looking forward to a game full of entertainment and keeping our winning streak for as long as we can maintain it.
“After last weekend’s performance, I am highly looking forward to challenging the opposition with lots of talent bouncing around the changing room.”
Cawthorne secured their first win of the season, chasing 185 for a three-wicket win at Wickersley.
Matthew Carroll took four wickets then Syed Azam Shah made 74.
Greaves said: “Coming off a disappointing defeat to well-established Doncaster in the opening game, we went to Wickersley with a point to prove.
“Our spinners put up an outstanding performance, controlling the game on a spinner’s wicket.
“I considered Wickersley’s score to be below par for the day and ground.
“Syed gave us an entertaining performance. He hit a six over cover which we all loved.”
Barnsley lost at home to Doncaster Town despite a big Owen Smith hundred.
The visitors’ openers shared a stand of 234, both hitting centuries, then they posted 304 for eight – with Jash Giyanani taking five wickets.
Smith smashed 147 off 150 balls with 14 fours and three sixes but his side fell 60 runs short.
Beukes said: “It was disappointing.
“We gave away too many runs but then gave it a good go with the bat.
“We had a great first game then came up against two openers who scored hundreds. We’re happy to take some points from the game.”
Smith also plays for Yorkshire under 18s. Beukes said: “He’s a wonderkid.
“We know he’s a very good player and we’re lucky to have him.
“He’s got a real maturity about him for his age and it was great to watch him.”
