THE ‘Awesome Foursome’ from a local construction and development firm have raised a whopping £3,200 after jumping out a plane for the Barnsley Hospital Charity.
Kay Parker-Oakley, Karen Hayward, Chris Keys and John Chivers - known as the ‘Awesome Foursome’ - all work at Wates in Barnsley.
They decided they wanted to help raise some funds for the hospital charity’s Breast Care Appeal and they took a leap of faith 15,000 feet in the air on Wednesday.
The group completed a tandem skydive at Hibaldstow, reaching a terminal velocity of 120mph.
Kay said: “The skydive was a fantastic once in a life time experience but what makes it even more amazing is that we are raising money for the breast care unit and to help anyone dealing with breast cancer which is very close to all our hearts.
“We have already raised over £3,200 and hope for more donations.
“We will also apply for match funding from the Wates Family Enterprise Trust (WFET) so we hope to have an incredible amount raised in total for the charity.”
Jane Mills, charity development manager at the Barnsley Hospital Charity, added: “The fantastic skydivers from Wates showed incredible courage and compassion by taking to the skies for our new Breast Care Appeal - a cause deeply close to their hearts.
“We want to send a huge thanks for their inspiring efforts raising vital funds and awareness, demonstrating true dedication to making a difference for our patients.
“Thank you, Awesome Foursome.”
