A churchgoing retired headmistress was caught speeding on her way back from Sunday mass.
Dorothy Eagle, 89, passed her test more than 60 years ago and had a blemish-free licence. She was clocked doing 36 in a 30mph zone at Smithies in her 17-year-old green Peugeot 106.
Dorothy, of Upperwood Hall, Darfield, faces a £60 fine and three points on her licence. And she is the butt of jokes from fellow worshippers at St Helen's church, Athersley, who have dubbed her 'Hot Rods' after learning of her misdemeanour.
"It must have been the van that was parked there. They're sneaky."
Dorothy, who was head at Wellgate Primary, Mapplewell, said she was shocked. "I have been driving 60-odd years and not had a thing on my licence and I get to be 89 and I get this."
