BARNSLEY College’s living and work students immersed themselves in a transformative farm experience recently.
Jamie’s Farm collaborates with schools and colleges to create these impactful experience, with the college students enjoying a week-long stay.
Seven students participated and engaged in a variety of activities that broadened their horizons.
Their tasks included farming, wood chopping, cooking, gardening, farm maintenance, horse care and more.
Additionally, students reflected on their success and behaviour, gave compliments, and showed recognition to the achievements of their peers.
Will Roberts, the course leader, said: “The team at Jamie’s Farm Monmouth were welcoming and helpful.
“It is our second time partaking in the residency and we hope to do it a third time. ( “Our students appreciated the opportunity to participate in activities outside the classroom.
“They demonstrated determination, problem-solving abilities, and an openness to try new tasks. ( “To ensure full engagement and promote healthy habits, students were not allowed to have their phones, consume sugary snacks, or indulge in smoking or drinking.
“This helped them focus on the activities and their personal growth.
“Our time at the farm was valued by both students and staff.”
