BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis has backed a government strategy which will see energy costs slashed by 25 per cent for eligible manufacturers.

The Industrial Strategy is a ten-year plan to promote business investment and growth and make it quicker, easier and cheaper to do business in the UK, giving businesses the confidence to invest and create 1.1 million good, well-paid jobs in thriving industries - delivering on the Labour government’s Plan for Change.

The strategy will focus on eight key growth sectors including the advanced manufacturing, defence, and life sciences sectors in South Yorkshire.

Dan said: “This is great news for businesses across South Yorkshire.

“By cutting energy costs and unlocking investment, this strategy will help local businesses grow, create high-quality jobs, and boost our economy.

“This means manufacturers can expand their operations, and new investment in manufacturing, defence and life sciences will bring opportunities for young people and skilled workers alike in South Yorkshire.”
