A BARNSLEY College fundraiser aimed at supporting a domestic abuse charity had raised more than £500.
A total of £514 has been raised to contribute to the renovation and redevelopment of the IDAS garden at a women’s refuge, providing a safe haven for women and children who have experienced or are survivors of domestic abuse.
The renovation project will be undertaken by construction and horticulture students during the upcoming academic year.
Leading the fundraising efforts, the Learning for Living and Work (LFLW) and hair and beauty departments organised a beauty treatments fundraiser.
During the event, hair and beauty students provided a range of 20-minute services, priced at £5 each.
Megan Warren, a member of staff who booked a service, said: “Big thanks to the amazing beauty students for taking part in the fundraiser.( “My nail file and polish and relaxing hand and arm massage were the perfect lunchtime treat - and all for a great cause.
“The students made it a lovely experience.
Nicola Thomson-Dewey, head of the Learning for Living and Work department and IDAS ambassador at Barnsley College, said: “We are incredibly proud of the collective effort and dedication shown by our students and staff. \
“The funds raised will make a significant difference in the lives of those who seek refuge and support at IDAS.”
