CAWTHORNE are making history for their club as they moved up to second in the top flight and progressed in the Heavy Woollen Cup this week with two one-run victories away from home.

They chased 279 with a wicket and a ball left at Doncaster Town in the league on Saturday.

The win took Cawthorne up two places and they remain 14 points off top.

They also won by one wicket on Sunday against Woodlands in the Heavy Woolley Cup.

Captain Archive Greaves said: “Coming off a massive weekend for the club, I’m over the moon with how we are going.

“We managed to get over the line in two tough games and an overall team performance got us where we are.

“The club as a whole is over the moon.

“This the highest we’ve ever been in the league and furthest we’ve got in the Heavy Woollen.

“We lose a few players in the next coming weeks so it will make things tough but I back the team to stand up as a whole and continue the great performances.

“The atmosphere in the changing room is second to none.

“We’re looking to continue this winning streak for the rest of the season, getting over the line one way or another, and maintain the challenge for top of the league.”
