ASSISTANT head coach Richard Keogh was impressed with Saturday's win at Harrogate Town and is looking forward to working with the returning Fabio Jalo.

The Reds ran out 3-0 winners at the Exercise Stadium on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Jack Shepherd, David McGoldrick and Vimal Yoganathan.

Keogh, who joined Conor Hourihane's coaching set up from Blackpool this summer, said: "We're really pleased with the performance "I thought we played really well especially for the first 20/25 minutes.

"All in all it was a really good day's work.

"As the levels are going up we want to see those things coming out and I think they did that.

"We've been trying to implement our plans.

"For us it's been about pushing the guys but also the tactical detail.

"Today we showed some really good things."

New signings Murphy Cooper, Nathanael Ogbeta, McGoldrick and Reyes Cleary all played a part in the win.

Keogh added: "We've been pleased with what we've got in the group.

"They've settled in really well and shown their quality.

"It's important for Conor to put his own stamp on the squad and I think we've done that.

"I think for us we love working with the players every day."

Captain Luca Connell missed the game through injury, as did defender Josh Earl.

But the pair - along with the returning Jalo - were all at Oakwell on Saturday morning for a training session.

He said: "We've worked them hard this morning before we came.

"They're on the right track.

"We've got some quality work into them and as far as we're concerned we're working with them and enjoying what they're bringing.

"Fabz is a really exciting player for us.

"He sustained a nasty injury but he's progressing really well.

"His brace is off now and so I'm looking forward to building him up slowly.

"Hopefully we can get him back to a place where he's performing."

The Reds will be looking to strengthen in the remaining month of the transfer window - but Keogh is focusing on the players they have.

"We want to keep improving the squad," he said.

"But our focus is on improving the players and when things present themselves the club and Con will act.

"We're happy with the squad but if there is some room to do something then I'm sure we will."
