A MURDER investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old Barnsley man died of 'significant burns'.

 

He had been at party on Pleasant View in Cudworth and sustained the burns at about 2.20am on Saturday, according to police.

 

The emergency services were called and the man was taken to Barnsley Hospital before being transferred to Northern General Hospital and then to Pinderfields Hospital, where he died from his injuries at about 11.40pm yesterday.

 

Police arrested six people on suspicion of attempted murder: three men, aged between 19 and 39 and three people aged between 16 and 17, all from Barnsley.

A 16-year-old woman was released due to insufficient evidence and the remaining five people were bailed.

 

A post mortem is due to take place this afternoon.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who was at the party or anyone who may have any information.
