A FRESH raft of support for those struggling with the cost of living is set to be revealed.

A council package, which will run until March 2027, is set to be given the nod by ruling cabinet members on October 1, the Chronicle understands.

If approved as expected, the money would be used to help residents with winter fuel payments, school meal vouchers, energy costs and provide debt and budgeting advice.

Last winter, the council launched its campaign to provide vital support to Barnsley pensioners through the challenging winter months, funded through the Household Support Fund.

The campaign reached over 2,400 residents who the council identified as being eligible for pension credits but not claiming their full entitlement./

A report said: “This is to seek approval for the proposal covering the period to March 2027 to support those in the most need with essential living costs, whilst also supporting those in work to remain in work.”

Residents in need have been urged to visit the council’s ‘More More In Your Pocket’ online page to see what help is available.

Coun Robert Frost, cabinet spokesperson for core services, added: “Our work to deliver support through last year’s funding helped many residents through challenging times.
