MEMBERS of a new party led by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will host their first meeting later this month.
The new party, currently under the temporary name ‘Your Party’, already has a supporters’ group in Barnsley and they held a stall in the town centre on Saturday.
Around 30 residents signed up to support the initiative, and local social media groups saw an immediate increase in members.
The Barnsley branch is now inviting local residents and community group it its first public meeting at Worsbrough Sports and Development Association on Wednesday September 17 at 6.30pm.
The agenda at the meeting includes an introduction to the party, a discussion on concerns and priorities for the branch and an opportunity for residents to shape the direction of the party.
A representative said: “We found many people who are sick of the way politicians treat them and welcome an alternative.
“Your Party offers that alternative.”
