BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis has welcomed the launch of a new charity to honour Afghanistan veterans.
The UK Afghanistan Veterans Community (AVC) has officially launched to ensure the service and sacrifice of over 150,000 Afghanistan veterans are remembered and honoured.
A launch event took place at the National Army Museum, attended by veterans including Dan Jarvis MP, Veterans Minister Al Carns, other supporters and their families.
Through remembrance events and community support, the charity will help build a lasting legacy so that the Afghanistan generation is never forgotten.
Dan said: “I’m proud to see the launch of the UK Afghanistan Veterans Community.
“Their work will honour individual stories from Afghanistan and the selfless values demonstrated throughout service and beyond, ensuring that these sacrifices and experiences are never forgotten.
“We owe a debt of gratitude and massive thanks to Jonny Ball and Matthew Mallett for making this happen.”
