A LOCAL company has celebrated a major fundraising feat.

Perrigo and its staff have supported Barnsley Hospice with innovative fundraising efforts since 2009.

It is estimated to cost around £670 per patient, per day to provide the nursing, medical and allied health professional care at the hospice.

Recently, Perrigo reached the impressive milestone of £100,000 in aid of the hospice, helping them to provide specialist end-of-life and palliative care.

The company donated £15,000 to the hospice’s ‘Comfort and Care’ campaign in 2018.

To reach the momentous £100,000 fundraising total, staff took part in a 100,000-step challenge from September 1 to September 10.

The self-named ‘Perrigo charity crew’ celebrated their achievement with a quirky glow-in-the-dark zumba party.

Steph Clarke from Perrigo said: “We are thrilled to have surpassed £100,000 in donations.

“Alongside a 100,000-step challenge, this has been the icing on the cake.

“Our colleagues, past and present, friends and family have helped us all toward this huge milestone.

“We value the amazing work the hospice does to support local people living with a life-limiting illness and those close to them.

“It’s our honour and privilege to support a fantastic local cause.”
