A MONK Bretton youngster is set to represent England in an international beauty pageant in America later this year.

Scarlett Maskill, 11, placed first runner-up in the UK pre-teen division at International Junior Miss UK and is subsequently heading to Orlando in December to represent her country and compete against girls from across the world.

Her mum, Chantelle, told the Chronicle that she couldn’t be prouder of all the work she’s put in to get to this stage - and praised her charity work.

She said: “She’s currently doing an advent calendar appeal by collecting advent calendars to donate throughout Barnsley for those families who are in need of help.

“Scarlett will also in December be donating a pile of Christmas presents to the children’s ward at Barnsley Hospital before Christmas.

“Scarlett is pushing hard in her passion of football and she now plays Sundays for an all-girl team in a boys’ league.

“Her ambitions are set so high for her age and we couldn’t be more proud of her.”
