Barnsley have ended goalkeeper Murphy Cooper’s loan from QPR and are expected to bring in a replacement imminently.
Cooper has been an ever-present in league games for the Reds this season, making 28 appearances in all competitions, with some mixed performances. Barnsley have kept the fewest clean sheets in the EFL.
It was due to be a season-long loan but the Reds have taken their option to end it early.
The Chronicle understands that a goalkeeper is likely to join in the next 24 hours.
Owen Goodman, the Crystal Palace stopper who spent the first half of the season at Huddersfield Town on loan, has been linked with a move to the Reds.
