A CARE home resident has set out to support Barnsley babies.

Margaret Binns, a resident at Darfield’s Thornhill House Care Home, has set out on a mission to give babies at Barnsley Hospital’s neonatal unit the gift of warmth.

The 94-year-old has channelled her life-long passion for knitting by crafting colourful baby hats, with the support of care home staff.

Staff at Thornhill House say Margaret’s dedication has inspired both residents and team members alike - highlighting the importance of care residents continuing their passions.

She said: “I love knitting and it makes me so happy doing the hats and putting smiles on the faces of families.”

Margaret Shaw, deputy manager, enthused about Margaret’s charitable hobby.

“Margaret’s knitting is a wonderful example of how our residents continue to make a difference in the community.

“We are incredibly proud of her generosity and the joy she brings to families and staff alike.
