Life is a drag for these two likely lads.

Barnsley Hospice volunteer Ian Wallace and his colleague Brian Featherstone are stepping out in style to raise money for the hospice by taking part in its first 'Fancy Drag Race'.

It has been organised by Helen Macintosh from the hospice, who said the idea came about due to popular demand following the success of a women-only midnight walk held in the town every year.

She said: "It is to give daring gentlemen the chance to dress up in all the feminine finery they can get their hands on - then run, walk, sashay or parade along a five mile route around Barnsley town centre."

Brave Brian said it was about time the boys had their own sponsored event.

"I normally deliver the clothes to Barnsley Hospice's shops and it makes a nice change to try on some of the ladies' more glamorous items – all for a good cause of course."

Helen added: "We hope it will be another successful fundraiser to help us meet the £8,000-a-day running costs of Barnsley Hospice."
