BOROUGH of Barnsley Swimming Club's juniors have a big month ahead in February and were boosted at the weekend by a visit from a former Olympian.
Chris Cook won golds at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and also competed at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics while representing Great Britain at the World Championships and European Championships.
A club spokesperson said: “Ahead of three weeks of Yorkshire Championships in February, our swimmers were inspired to hear stories about Chris’s time swimming for Team GB, talking about his setbacks and achievements.
“Chris encouraged swimmers to dream big and to focus on small wins to achieve big swims.
“It was fantastic to welcome Chris to our club and we’re looking forward to seeing him at a poolside soon.”
The Barnsley swimmers will now compete in the Yorkshire Championships which are split over the next three weekends throughout February.
