A LOCAL community centre is set to get some ‘much-needed’ TLC after investment plans were given the green light.

Dog Hill Community Centre in Shafton was the subject of recent site visits between Berneslai Homes and the council.

Following the visits, it’s now been confirmed that funding has been made available to make a whole host of upgrades to the site.

Coun Ashley Peace, who represents the North East ward, has praised the latest developments.

He said: “These improvements include roof repairs, which have now been completed, internal ceiling repairs, upgrades to the external lighting, and work to eradicate damp in the main entrance.

“Following feedback from our community groups, we’re very happy to announce that new chairs are on the way - anyone who’s spent time at the centre will know they were definitely needed.

“We’d like to thank our wonderful community groups for their patience while this work takes place, and extend a big thank you to the Berneslai Homes team for working with us to address and resolve the issues we raised.

“These upgrades will help ensure the centre continues to be a welcoming, safe, and comfortable space for everyone who uses it.”
