JADE Crosby broke the Penistone Footpath Runners’ women’s record at the Dewsbury 10k.

She went under 40 minutes for the first time, clocking 39-18.

Junior Flynn Rogers continued his excellent form with a personal best 34-09 to finish third in the under 18 category, while Richard Heppenstall ran 35-00 to place fourth in the men’s over50s age group. Suzanne McGill was fifth in the women’s over45 category with 40-46.

Heather Simpson recorded a personal best on her way to a 45-37 finish.

There were 41 Barnsley AC members taking part.

There were PBs for Chris Gillott (31-43), James Roberts (36-22), James Drake (36-38), Joe Cox (37-34), Lee Yoxall (37-47), Gemma Thickett (39-49), Dave Findlay (41-15) and Joy Benson (56-44).

Gail Colville was first over60 woman in 42-27. Beth Massey (over55 woman), Dave Brooksbank (over65 man) and Andrew Heppenstall (over45 man) finished third in their age categories.

More than 20 Barnsley Harriers took part, with Rich Spooner leading them home under the 36-minute mark.

Father and son duo Stewart and Charlie Holt ran their first 10k race for the club, both recording PBs with Charlie second back for the Harriers.

Jonny Hewitt recorded another PB for the distance, as did Jess Manley, Jay West, Josh Jordan Clough and Amanda Lewis.

The BUCS Cross Country Championships took place at Charnwood College in Loughborough with Barnsley AC’s Taylor Hughes completing the men’s short race in 331st place with a time of 34-07.

At the Pau Alsager 5, Penistone’s Nichola McNally finished in 33-48 to finish second in the women’s over55 category. It also represented a club record.

On the fells, Damian Kilpin represented Penistone at the Cod Beck Fell Race, a classic North Yorkshire winter event known for its steep climbs and rough terrain.

At the Mickleden Straddle Fell Race in the Peak District, George Parr led the Penistone club home in 11th place with 1-59-46. He was followed by Phil Hinchliffe and Daniel Rushforth, who both ran strongly inside the top 50.

Hannah Shaw was first Penistone woman home. Lesley Parker claimed another age-category victory, taking first place in the women’s over50 category with a determined run of 2-35-29.
