THERE was a double-header at Shaw Lane on Saturday with the two Barnsley teams losing to highly-placed visitors.
Barnsley’s men lost 46-12 at home to third-placed West Park Leeds in Yorkshire Division Three.
That left them sixth with 27 points from 13 games, 22 points off the top two and 15 clear of the last-placed team.
They have seven games left starting at home to second-placed Leeds Corinthians on Saturday.
Barnsley Ladies lost 35-5 at home to leaders Cheltenham Tigers in Championship North One.
The Shaw Laners are eighth in the ten-team league, having won two and lost ten of their 12 games.
They are one place and two points clear of the bottom two but have played fewer games than everyone else with 12.
They are now due to visit winless bottom club Blaydon Red Kites on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Wath are set to resume their title challenge in Yorkshire Division One when they host Goole on Saturday.
The leaders have won their last ten in all competitions and have eight league games left.
Wortley are due to host Withernsea in Yorkshire Division Four.
