Barnsley will look to continue their unbeaten record at Oakwell in 2026 when they welcome Michael Duff’s Wycombe Wanderers from 7.45pm on Tuesday.
The Reds are 13th in League One – nine points clear of the relegation zone and eight off the play-offs – following a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
They are unbeaten in five home matches at the start of 2026, winning three, and are at home in five of their next six fixtures.
The Chairboys are ninth, two points off the play-offs and six ahead of Barnsley. If they win in midweek, they will go up to sixth.
Last year’s play-off semi-finalists Wycombe sacked Mike Dodds in September, after taking five points from eight games, and brought in Duff who took Barnsley to the 2023 play-off final before short spells with Swansea and Huddersfield.
They have taken 45 points from 26 games under him. But the majority of their points have come at Adams Park, while they have the joint fewest away wins in the division with two. They have scored just 13 goals in their 16 away league games.
Wycombe won 3-0 home to Burton Albion on Saturday.
Duff took on the Reds three times as Huddersfield boss last season, doing the double in the league and winning in the EFL Trophy.
Head coach Conor Hourihane told the Chronicle: “They are a really good side. Since Michael's gone in there, they've done fantastically well in terms of points return. We know it's going to be a difficult game, obviously.
“I think at home, minimum, we always get a performance.
“Some games have been tight, Northampton, Wimbledon. Some games we've come out on top, Blackpool, Stevenage, Peterborough.
“We're going to be in the game with a proper performance and trying to attack the game, as we do at home. And hopefully we come out on the right side of it.”
Wycombe have former Barnsley stars Cauley Woodrow, who has eight goals this season, and Josh Scowen who is nearing the end of a recovery from a serious knee injury.
Barnsley visited Wycombe in October and, after taking a 2-0 lead thanks to full league debutant Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn, they conceded in the 88th and 93rd minutes to draw 2-2.
That was also the scoreline at Oakwell last season with Marc Roberts netting an 89th-minute leveller.
The clubs have met 15 times with Barnsley winning seven but none of the last three.
