Barnsley’s loan goalkeeper Owen Goodman has been included in the latest Canada squad.
The stopper, on loan from Crystal Palace, has been a regular between the sticks since joining in January.
Canada are due to host Iceland then Tunisia in friendlies in Toronto ahead of hosting the summer’s World Cup.
They are due to play their second game in the early hours on Wednesday April 1, UK time, with Barnsley then set to play at Burton Albion on Friday, April 3.
Goodman, who grew up in England and Canada and played for England under 20s, is yet to make his debut but has been in Jesse Marsch’s last two squads.
Jono Bland is in the Wales under 21s squad with Vimal Yoganathan on standby. They are due to host Belarus under 21s on Friday of next week then visit Denmark under 21s the following Tuesday. On Bland, head coach Conor Hourihane said: “He’s done great since I’ve taken over.
“He was one of the top performers in pre-season and the first ten games with intensity, energy and work-rate.
“Recently he’s slowed down and it’s been a slog and effort. It’s no fault of his, we’ve just had to rely on him so much, we haven’t dipped him out as much as needed.
“A little bit of a spell in and out of the team is important to get a spring back in step and energy which stood him out over others.
“He’s not had a rest, he’s been at all the international breaks. It’s been a gruelling and learning experience but he will benefit from it.
“Hopefully being in a different environment will help him in the last block of games.”
Patrick Kelly has been named in Northern Ireland’s senior squad for their World Cup play-off against Italy next week.
Hourihane said: “It’s really exciting for him to be involved in big games like that early in his career. Whether he gets minutes, he will be in and around top players – learning and thriving off them. It’s brilliant for him and the club. The most important thing is he comes back fit and firing.”
David McGoldrick was linked with a recall for Republic of Ireland last week but has not been named in the squad.
