A YOUNG boxer who is committed to giving back to his community has been nominated for a Young Champions award.

Mason Coles, 17, has been helping raise money for charity with his dad Gavin since he was just ten years old.

Mason’s impressive list of fundraising feats fear exceed his limited years.

His list of achievements include: multiple obstacle races, challenges like 24-hour cycles and 24-hour runs on a treadmill as part of team and the Barnsley ten-kilometre race.

Astoundingly, Mason first completed the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks three times - the first time at just 11 years old.

On his most recent trek, a storm rolled in and the teenager spent over eight hours completing the challenge during extreme weather conditions.

Mason returned home after the challenge, getting his foot in the door at 5am, only to run a five-kilometer run, just five hours later.

Fundraising runs in the previous Proud of Barnsley winner’s family, with the race being completed in the name of his sister, Caitlin’s amateur boxing club.
