A DEDICATED youngster has challenged herself to fundraise for a key medical care provider.
In January, Evie Fairman, seven, and her mum decided to celebrate the new year by getting their hearts pumping for a good cause.
The pair resolved to walk or jog a minimum of 56 miles through the month of February - smashing their goal with almost 62 miles.
Vowing to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Evie’s thoughtful fundraiser went on to meet its target seven times over, raising £700.
Inspired by family trips to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the youngster has carried on her parents’ charitable spirit.
The Brampton-based youngster has been nominated for a Young Champions Award for her kind-hearted act, which shows maturity far beyond her years.
Evie’s mum, Amy Higginbottom, praised her daughter for her charitable spirit, detailling the youngster’s hard work to raise funds.
She said: “Evie and both myself and her dad always attend events for the charity, but Evie wanted to do something herself, so we set this up.
“I got in touch with them, got some fundraising sheets, set up a Just Giving page and met one of the ladies who helps run the charity.
“We set out to raise £100 and through wind, rain, storms and sunshine, Evie put on her trainers and smashed her goal.
“She raised a total of £700 by shouting it from the rooftops.
“She is now thinking of other ways she can go on to raise more money for them after being invited for a tour of the air base and seeing firsthand what our raised money helps to fund.”
