BARNSLEY Hospice bosses are encouraging locals to ‘av a natter’ as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week.
The free drop-in event is set to take take place on Wednesday, from 11am to 1.30pm and there is no need to book.
Those in attendance will be able to ask questions and learn from some of Barnsley’s leading professionals.
Dying Matters Awareness Week is a national campaign of Hospice UK, with the aim of opening up conversations around death and dying.
Rebecca Lambert, head of clinical services and quality matron at the hospice, said: “We understand it can be difficult to talk about death, dying and grief, but it’s important we start the conversation.
“At Barnsley Hospice, we’re here to support people with progressive, life-limiting illnesses and we are striving to create a culture where talking about dying matters is normalised.
“This is why we’ve created this free event for our patients, staff, volunteers and the public to attend so we can come together, break taboos and ‘av a natter’ about dying matters.
“It would be wonderful to see the people of Barnsley there.”
