A DARTON care home has been praised by the Care Quality Commission following its most recent inspection even receiving an ‘outstanding’ rating for how caring its staff are.
Dignity Residential Care Home, based on Bence Lane, is a home which does not provide nursing care.
Following its most recent inspection, a report released on Wednesday states that the overall rating of the home is ‘good’ while the caring category has been given top marks.
A report states: “The provider was exceptional at treating people with kindness, empathy and compassion and in how they respected people’s privacy and dignity.
“Staff always treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
“People using the service were supported by staff who consistently demonstrated kind, compassionate and respectful care.
“Feedback from family members indicated that staff knew people well, supported by continuity of staffing, which enabled strong, trusting and positive relationships to develop.
“Staff communicated effectively with people, including those living with dementia, using patient, calm and respectful approaches.”
The report added that people felt safe while using the service.
It added: “A range of activities were available within the home, and people spoke positively about these.
“Strong family relationships were actively supported and maintained.
“People described regular visits from relatives and being supported to go out into the community, including going out for meals and visiting relatives living elsewhere.
“This helped people remain connected to family life and maintain a sense of normality and belonging.
“People said they felt safe, respected and valued as individuals.
“Even where people found it more difficult to communicate with other residents, they described feeling content and well supported, with staff ensuring their emotional wellbeing and social preferences were understood and respected.
“People said they had no complaints and felt confident in the care provided, reflecting a positive, compassionate culture within the home.”
